As Networked and Cloud based applications grow, guaranteeing application performance is imperative but becomes more difficult to achieve!’
Cambridge UK, 15th December, 2010 — iTrinegy, the Networked Application Performance Lifecycle™ experts, announces high customer satisfaction in their network emulation technology in 2010. Very different organizations such as Slimming World, APD Communications, Capita and many others agree that iTrinegy’s network emulation tools have ensured applications work successfully across their many different networks.
“By utilising iTrinegy’s network emulator in our development labs with our CORTEX ICCS product, we have been able to test our new VoIP TETRA Port Pooling solution over a variety of different simulated connections including ADSL, Satellite and congested LANs. With VoIP usage on the increase but with differing network conditions we have been able to reliably simulate customers’ environments and successfully re-factor the relevant code to address any problems. Furthermore, we can now state with certainty the bandwidth requirements of a particular scenario; essential for mission critical services where accuracy is paramount,” Dan Ellis, APD Communications, 2010
iTrinegy understands that no two networks are the same, or perform in the same way at different times, and our customers’ data often has to travel across many different types of networks such as Modem, ISDN, MPLS, WANs, TETRA, Satellite, and Wireless. Our emulators allow them to recreate not only the networks but the network conditions/scenarios that occur at different times.
“It was imperative that our new bespoke application ’XpressWeigh’ would work in the WAN with many different types of network connections, from clients in large cities to small communities where the network wasn’t very sophisticated. We needed to understand the areas that had poor internet connections, areas where latency would impact our application, and some of our Consultants were using old dial-up modems and/or had low bandwidth. iTrinegy’s network emulator helped ensure that ‘XpressWeigh’ works for every Consultant throughout Slimming World and that we have been able to adapt the areas where the network was difficult, this has enabled us to guarantee a positive experience for all our Consultants.” Sean Chapman, Slimming World, 2010.
iTrinegy’s Product Director, Frank Puranik observed at a recent Test Expo exhibition, “It is becoming apparent that testing applications for use on a variety of non-LAN networks, including the Cloud is a growing trend. Many testers were interested in trying to understand the importance of testing in environments that truly represented the conditions applications would experience in the real world. Our network emulation technology does just that, and we have recently added a graphical representation so that you can quickly and easily draw the network you’re aiming to replicate.”
iTrinegy’s network emulators are also proving useful for organisations implementing datacentre consolidation and virtualization strategies. “We avoided a failed migration and understood that we would need to invest in thin client or WAN acceleration technologies to complete the task. All in all, it was a case of “money very well spent” on iTrinegy’s products, especially given that we could use them again on our ongoing migration/virtualization projects and monitor the applications post migration with AppQoS too” Steve Brankin, Capita.
With more and more applications and services relying on Non LAN networks for delivery, technology such as network emulation is becoming essential when developing and testing applications that travel across any type of network.
