In Depth Analysis of VoIP Protocols
The AppQoS module for VoIP will allow an organization to have more relevant information on not only the status of the call but also show:
- Phone numbers visibility - who is calling who, telephone numbers etc.
- How long it took to set-up the call and if the call wasn’t set up properly then why?
- What happened during the call
- Report on long calls, time, amount of data sent, jitter, loss
- Top callers etc
Module Details
Standard Layer 3 (Address and ports) monitoring can only tell the “when” and “where” with regards network traffic. In contrast, all the AppQoS modules scan protocol signature - not port number. In short, they determine the “when”, “where”, “what” (and “who“ in windows networking) of network traffic analysis to provide a greater level of granularity.
All AppQoS modules are organised in host view and entity view at the top level. Entity is according to the purpose of the module. For VoIP Monitoring the entities are calls. Host view is further split into client, server views.
The VoIP Monitoring module (SIP only at this time) displays:
- Throughput view: No. of packets in either direction or both, No. of bits/sec, packet loss, jitter
- Navigate from callers -> recipients -> calls or recipients -> callers -> calls
- All calls are further categorised into four different sorting fields:
- By Time
- By Duration
- By Bytes
- By Jitters
- Special category graph/tables:
- List of SIP messages per call
