Compact Network Emulator proving popular with both industry and analysts
Achieves Major take- up and Techworld Recommended Status
Welwyn Garden City, UK and Nevada, USA, September 19th, 2007, — Itheon Networks, the Networked Application Performance Lifecycle™ specialists, reported today that their recently released INE Compact has generated a record number of leads and caught the eye of the lab testers at Techworld, a major network technical publication who reviewed the product and gave it Recommended status.
INE Compact, Itheon Networks, small, silent, easy-to-use and cost effective network emulator is aimed at companies needing to replicate the network conditions applications are likely to encounter when running over WAN Networks. Since its launch in July it has sold strongly to companies in the finance, communication, defence and technology sectors.
‘We are really excited by the level of interest generated by INE Compact, it shows the seriousness that is being taken by the market in testing applications in realistic network conditions before roll-out’ said Frank Puranik, Itheon Networks Product Director. We developed INE Compact in order to fill the gap between the low-end of the market where there are a number of cheap but not particularly user-friendly products and the top-of-the-range highly sophisticated but sometimes prohibitively expensive offerings. Our decision to produce a small, very easy-to-use desktop emulator that delivers the great majority of simulated network conditions application developers and testers are looking for has been clearly justified. The introduction of INE Compact also means that Itheon Networks now offers the most comprehensive range of network emulation products available from one supplier.
The enthusiasm for INE Compact is not just confined to user organizations. Techworld, the UK’s infrastructure and networking knowledge centre recently conducted an independent review of INE Compact and awarded it Recommended status. The reviewer commented that “For most network emulation tasks, the INE compact is the one to look at” and concluded that it was ‘A nice addition to the lab of any IT person that wants to try stuff out in a sterile environment before doing it for real’.
“We are also extremely pleased that the Techworld, as an independent and impartial organization were impressed enough to recommend network emulator and describe it as the one to look at’’ said Frank Puranik.
About Techworld:
Techworld has been set up with one aim in mind; that of making the network manager’s job easier. Unlike many IT sites, Techworld has been written by people with experience of running networks – people who are only too aware of the technical problems that are thrown up in the course of the working day. Techworld are impartial and not aimed at pushing any particular company’s products.
Welwyn Garden City, UK & Reno USA, November 29th, 2007, — Itheon Networks, the Networked Application Performance Lifecycle™ specialists, announced today that it is releasing a major enhancement to its small, silent desktop emulator, INE Compact. The new upgrade offers dynamic network environment scenarios enabling key network characteristics such as latency & jitter, bandwidth restrictions and packet loss/drop and reordering to change over time without user intervention. As a result, developers and testers using this network simulation tool will gain an even more realistic understanding of how applications really perform in wide area, remote or wireless network conditions.
“Developing dynamic scenarios isn’t a new concept’ said Frank Puranik Product Director ‘But in the past only users of our INE Enterprise network emulator had access to this feature. Today we are offering this functionality within our entry level emulation appliance. There are many products on the market that offer static scenarios’ said Frank ‘but what’s the point? Networks aren’t static, they are dynamic and the scenarios programmed into emulation products must show a true picture and that’s what INE Compact offers. This makes it a particularly powerful entry level emulator.’
The ability to deploy dynamically altering scenarios, until now has been the preserve of high-spec emulators and therefore only really affordable for larger enterprises. Now smaller companies and departments of larger organizations can gain a better understanding of the impact networks have on their applications. INE Compact enables the recreation of all the major conditions that can affect applications in the network such as Link Speed, e.g. T1, E1, Modem, (A)DSL, GPRS, 3G, WiMAX, Satellite, latency (delay), jitter, available bandwidth, packet loss/error/reordering etc, and can be controlled asymmetrically or symmetrically.
INE Compact is a small, silent network simulator that sits between the host machine and end-user client, either directly or via switches and routers, where it applies realistic network environments to show the ‘real’ performance of the application in WAN, wireless or satellite network conditions.
Phil Bull, VP - Marketing ‘Itheon Networks offers the most comprehensive range of network emulation products in the market. Our technology assists developers, testers/QA specialists and network managers as the application progresses from initial design through to ongoing monitoring. We are the true providers of end-to-end networked application performance testing and monitoring tools.
