theon Networks participates in Testing Interactive Media discussions at Software & Systems Quality Conference
Frank Puranik discusses Network & Online Testing in the Real World
Welwyn Garden City, UK 13th September , 2007, — Itheon Networks announces that Frank Puranik has been invited to speak at the forthcoming Software Systems Quality London Conference 2007. Frank will explore ‘Network & Online Testing: Emulation in the Real World’ within the Testing Interactive Media stream of the conference on 3rd October 2007 at the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre, London, UK.
Games Performance over the Network: Frank’s session will explore the impact different networks characteristics have on games played over the internet and outline the some of the do’s and don’t’s of how best to test games and other interactive media in a realistic network environment. This includes exposing the misconception that the use of multiple ADSL lines into a development environment provides the necessary level of realism and the pitfalls of employing teams of games testers across the globe. In this presentation, Frank also discusses the use of simulated (emulated) networks to test games up to the most extreme conditions likely to be encountered in normal play.
After his presentation, Frank will join speakers from Kuju Entertainment, Sega, and EA Games for a panel session on Industry Cooperation on Quality Entertainment.
Frank Puranik is Product Director of Itheon Networks which specializes in the delivery of Networked Application Performance Testing and Network Emulation technology that helps companies de-risk software roll-outs over wide area networks. With the advent of online gaming Frank has taken a particular interest in the performance of games software in the online environment. He has also contributed articles in games industry publications such Develop and is a regular speaker on the subject of the impact of networks on application performance. He has over 20 years experience of developing technology to address application performance monitoring and testing. This includes working in a wide variety of roles including software development, sales, technical support and design.
